3d Icons – Siggraph – Powerpoint – Summer, Fall 2018

Below is a collection of 3d models I was asked to create while at Cubicle Ninjas to be used as 3d Icons both to be used on the web and powerpoint. Because these were not made for VR, I made sure to keep the materials on the models simple. Each color on the model represents a different material, and I kept the materials as a simple color while only adjusting the specular and gloss channels to make the models look the way I wanted them to while keeping the file size as small as I could.

You can grab and turn the models around with the left mouse button, pan with the right or middle mouse buttons, and if you hold Alt + any mouse button, you can shine the light around the scene.

How To: Navigate Embedded Sketchfab Models

All 3D Models on my website in the VR Projects, 3D Icons and Misc 3D Models are embedded with my account on Sketchfab. I have the 3D Models set so you can view additional details like the Wireframe, Tri-Count and the texture map for all models I either unwrapped or created textures for.

When the “Model Inspector” is opened, you can view additional details in either the “3D” or “2D” views like individual texture maps or the wireframe on the 3D Model.

These are models I made while at Cubicle Ninjas in the fall of 2018. I was supplied images containing icons made for Siggraph that I was asked to make into 3d models. These models were not built to be ready for games or VR, so every color seen in these models was actually created from its own material, and I made sure to match the colors from the icons supplied to me to start with. When creating these models, I also made sure that they could be subdivided to make the model smoother without losing any detail in the model as well when doing so. All of the models shown here were linked with sketchfab (www.sketchfab.com/bengrieb), so you can hit the play button, and use your left mouse to turn the model around in the view, right click to pan, and you can scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out. If you hold “Alt + Click”, you can shine the light around the model to see how the light reflects as well.

Powerpoint 3D Icons

3d Model made for Powerpoint. I made 3 materials total, one for the Chrome Metal, Matte Handle and the Glass. Model shown here has 80608 Triangles after 2 rounds of subdivision from 5036 Triangles.
3d Model I made for Powerpoint. I was asked to make a Bullhorn. The triangle count shown here is 216992 triangles after 2 subdivisions from 13736.

3d Icon model made for Powerpoint. This has only one matte color material. The model has 2880 triangles after 1 round of subdivision from 702 triangles.

I was given an image of the Twitter Bird to trace in 3d Studio Max, and I made the splines and cross sections to create the Logo inside. The model shown here has 30912 triangles after 2 rounds of subdivision from 1974.
The model shown here has 6212 triangles from 1536 after 1 round of subdivision. I was supplied the logo to trace with splines in 3d Studio Max to create the Logo in the circle.

I was given an image of the Instagram Logo, and I traced the image with Splines and CAD Lines in 3ds Max to create the above model. The Triangle count is at 7964 after 1 subdivision from 1976.

I was given an image of the Tumblr Logo, and I traced the image with Splines and CAD Lines to create the Tumblr Logo inside the circle. The Triangle count is at 22912 after 2 rounds of subdivision from 1440.
3d Model made for Powerpoint, 55386 triangles after 1 round of subdivision from 21682 triangles. I used a combination of standard and Arch and Design materials on this model. FBX file size is under 1 mb.
I was asked to make open and shut versions of the Suitcase for powerpoint. The closed briefcase has 33884 triangles after 1 subdivision pass from 8520, and the open model has 37228 triangles from 9376.
